Federal Judiciary Employees Lack Confidence in Internal Processes and Rarely Report Misconduct

Congress cannot credibly espouse a commitment to the rule of law while refusing to ensure judges are subject to the law, Aliza Shatzman argues in Courier News. In the wake of a troubling climate survey released by the federal judiciary earlier this year, underscoring that employees lack confidence in internal processes and rarely report misconduct, I argue that Congress should use all the tools in the toolbox - legislative, oversight, appropriations, and the bully pulpit - to hold the courts accountable for rampant abusive conduct.

Law clerks cannot wait another year for reform. Our elected leaders can and should do far more.
