Judge Sarah Merriam is yet another example of a judge behaving badly and yet insufficiently disciplined, because the judicial complaint process is broken. The Legal Accountability Project filed its first complaint as an organization against Judge Merriam—the second complaint against her—in December 2025 after LAP learned Judge Merriam continued to mistreat clerks after she was disciplined the first time.
