Judges often quit to avoid misconduct investigations. A new bill in Congress would stop that.

The TRUST Act would close the disturbing legal loophole that currently allows judges to step down to evade accountability for misconduct. LAP’s Aliza Shatzman told Business Insider that the judiciary claims their hands are tied once a judge leaves. "This would untie those hands ... theoretically, [the bill] is something they should support." Shatzman added that she hopes Republicans as well as Democrats will support the bill because this is not a partisan issue: "both Democratic and Republican appointees mistreat their clerks."
