LAP Announces Revised Pricing for Centralized Clerkships Database

Three years ago, The Legal Accountability Project (LAP) committed to an audacious goal: creating a first-of-its-kind, nationwide Clerkships Database to democratize judicial clerkship information and opportunities. LAP set out to compile clerkship experience surveys from judicial law clerks nationwide and make those candid insights accessible to aspiring law clerks. Since 2022, LAP has done what many thought couldn’t be done, and a few thought shouldn’t be done, creating transparency where before there was none.

LAP’s Clerkships Database (AKA “Glassdoor for Judges”) currently contains over 1,700 candid reviews about more than 1,100 federal and state judges. The platform contains surveys from every state and every federal circuit. It is the largest independent repository of clerkship information in the U.S. and is several times the size of the largest law school databases. But more important than its size is its candor–LAP’s Database is the only source of honest reviews about great bosses to apply to, and abusive ones to avoid. Because when LAP’s Founder was applying for clerkships, she had no way of knowing this information, causing her, and far too many other judicial law clerks, to unwittingly enter toxic work environments.

LAP has already served more than 2,000 law students and recent graduates from nearly every U.S. law school. No longer is judicial clerkship information siloed off at a few well-resourced schools and selectively shared with applicants. Every applicant can now access baseline information about clerking, including judges’ managerial styles, chambers culture, work/life balance, treatment of clerks, and expectations for the role.

Given the increased costs associated with maintaining the platform, LAP is raising the subscription price slightly for the subscription cycle running from August 1, 2025-July 31, 2026 for one year of access to: $50 per year for law students and $60 per year for recent graduates/practicing attorneys.

Clerkship applicants can visit survey.legalaccountabilityproject.org to register today. As an early-bird offer, anyone who registers in July will be able to access the platform before August 1, for no additional cost.

LAP recognizes that cost will be a barrier for some students. Opportunities to defray these costs are available upon request. Students should also urge their law schools to subscribe, thereby ensuring there are no barriers to access,

LAP will also continue to offer reduced rates for bulk subscribers, including law schools, law journals, and student organizations subscribing on behalf of 50 or more users.

LAP appreciates the overwhelmingly positive user feedback on the platform, evidenced by incredible demand over the past 15 months. At a time when far too many in positions of power, including lawmakers, the judiciary, and legal academia, make decisions that run counter to the interests of law students and law clerks, it has never been more important for LAP’s third-party, innovative solution to operate wholly independently of law schools and the courts. LAP looks forward to supporting many more aspiring law clerks on their clerkship journeys in the years ahead.
